Counselling Therapist

  • Julia has a M.A. in Counselling Psychology
  • She welcomes all clients with a safe, empathetic place to explore their concerns, develop new skills, gain new perspectives and enhance their wellness.
  • Julia uses a person-centred, integrative approach intended to be adapted to the needs of the individual client. She draws from a number of therapeutic frameworks   including:  interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, cognitive-behavioural therapies, and emotion-based therapies.
  • She works with all adult populations, but has a special interest in working with women, seniors, and couples.
  • Julia has developed a significant interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She has received training in these specialized modalities and utilizes these tools and techniques in sessions with individuals and couples.

Other Information

Julia has worked for over a decade as an MRI technologist (and still does) which has created a fascination with neuroscience and its application to psychology. Luckily, neuroscience research is currently a major factor in improving how therapists can better help clients. This knowledge and research bridges the gap for her between the two professions.

When not studying or working, Julia enjoys a variety of creative pursuits such as watercolor and mixed media collage. When appropriate, she enjoys integrating creative expression into her therapeutic work.
