Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is a cutting edge treatment for trauma and distruptive life events. Different than your usual "talk therapy," it uses your brain's innate ability to access and process "stuck" memories and internalized self-concepts.
Julia has worked for over a decade as an MRI technologist (and still does) which has created a fascination with neuroscience and its application to psychology. Luckily, neuroscience research is currently a major factor in improving how therapists can better help clients. This knowledge and research bridges the gap for her between the two professions.
When not studying or working, Julia enjoys a variety of creative pursuits such as watercolor and mixed media collage. When appropriate, she enjoys integrating creative expression into her therapeutic work.
People come to counselling for many reasons:
Your story may be very challenging but it is welcome here. My view of therapy is holistic. I strive understand my clients well and build goals around what you desire to create from your life. We will work together to decrease distress and to increase wellness.
Counselling can assist you with viewing your life from a new perspective, increasing your ability to be psychologically and emotionally flexible, understanding your own history, learning new coping skills, and enhancing wellness.
Therapy may be brief if symptoms are mild or are regarding a focused issue. Therapy may be longer if the problem is complex or has been affecting you for a long time.
Please contact me with questions, to book an appointment or to schedule a FREE 20 min Meet and Greet session.
